Wine and Gourmet Private Tour of Portugal

Suggested Itinerary:

DAY 1: LISBON
On arrival, a private transfer to the luxurious Pestana Palace hotel.

DAY 2: COOKING, WINE TASTING AND WELL-BEING (B,L,D)
After a visit to the lovely town of Sintra enjoy a gourmet cooking class at the five star Hotel Albatroz in the fishing town of Cascais. Continue up the coast towards the western most point of continental Europe, Colares. You visit century old vineyards for a wine tasting and in the evening of this Portugal tour you will enjoy a Fado Night.

DAY 3: WINE AND CHEESE MAKING (B, L, D)
Next stop on this Portugal tour will be in Azeitão at a local cheese dairy to see the techniques for producing soft cheese. At Quinta de Catralvos you will have a gourmet lunch and attend a wine-making session. Visit Arrábida Nature Park of on your way to Évora.

DAY 4: ESPORAO WINE ESTATE (B, L, D)
Start the day’s Portugal tour of Évora seeing the columns of the Roman Temple and the skulls of the Chapel of the Bones. After crossing the hills of the Alentejo you will reach Portel where you will have a cooking lesson. First you will pick up the ingredients at the orchard, a chef will give you a talk on local gastronomy and finally you will have a delicious traditional meal.

DAY 5: A TRADITIONAL LUNCH (B, L, D)
You will taste the perfect combination between tradition and state-of-the-art wine making techniques in the Seis Reis Estate. Further north in Alentejo you will come to Marvão on your Portugal travel itinerary where you will enjoy a traditional lunch and later a gourmet dinner.

DAY 6: TERRACED VINEYARDS, LUNCH AND A CRUISE (B, L, D)
Visit the village of Belmonte, one of the oldest surviving Jewish communities in Portugal. The Portugal tour next takes you to the Quinta da Ervamoira Estate where lunch will be provided. Then to the Douro Valley to see its terraced vineyards and explore the river on a private cruise.

DAY 7: A CELLAR VISIT, A WALK AND A GOURMET DINNER (B, L ,D)
Today the Portugal travel program will be devoted to relaxation. Explore the Quinta Nova wine trails or visit wine cellars. After a light buffet lunch visit Vila Real, the establishment that made Mateus Rosé wine a famous label: Afterwards continue to Amarante to stroll around the historical centre before a special gourmet dinner.

DAY 8: MANORS AND VINHO VERDE (B, D)
The first stop today on this Portugal tour is Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal. This historical Portugal tour then continues to the city of Braga for a “Vinho Verde” tasting.

DAY 9: PORT AND SHOPPING (B, D)

DAY 10: THE SCIENCE OF WINEMAKING (B)
To conclude this Portugal tour, visit Coimbra, one of the oldest university towns in Europe. Your next stop is the fishing town of Nazaré for lunch, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In the afternoon visit a family-owned wine estate at Quinta do Sanguinhal, then return to Lisbon.
