Croatia Tour – Alps to the Adriatic
Marco Polo was not the only person to be rendered speechless by Croatia’s awe-inspiring natural beauty, generations of travellers have fallen in love with its endless coastline and stunning scenery. This Croatia tour lets you experience Croatia’s beauty and splendour.
Suggested Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Zagreb (D)
You will be met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel, located in the centre of the city of Zagreb. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 2: Zagreb (B, L)
In the morning enjoy a walking tour of Zagreb to the Lower Town with its charming cobblestone streets full of boutiques, cafés and bookshops. This afternoon take the funicular up to the Upper Town. Begin the tour with a visit to Dolac, the open- air fruit and vegetable market.
Day 3: Zagreb - Bled (B, L)
Your driver and guide will take you into the Croatian countryside on your journey to Slovenia. Some of Croatia’s best-kept castles and fortifications may be found in this region. You cross into Slovenia where you will enjoy a special lunch in the Mokrice Castle Restaurant. After lunch take a tour of the Castle’s wine cellar with the sommelier. Late afternoon arrival in Bled.
Day 4: Bled –Ljubljana – Istrian Peninsula (B, D)
Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Bled to see the tiny Church of the Assumption set atop a small island in the middle of the lake. Later, explore the beautiful Bled Castle. This afternoon you will travel to Ljubljana where you will have time to explore and have lunch before a walking tour. Depart Ljubljana and travel back to Croatia.
Day 5: Istria (B, L)
Meet your guide and driver for your transfer to a small medieval township, called Motovun, surrounded by the old city walls and located on the hill with a view onto the woods where the truffles are found. Arrive in the village of Livade where you will enjoy a truffle hunting demonstration, guided by an expert and a trained dog. Lunch at a restaurant that features truffle specialties then continue to Rovinj to walk the cobblestone streets and visit the famous Roman Amphitheatre in Pula.
Day 6: Istria – Split (B)
Drive down the Adriatic coast to Split and in the afternoon with a stop for a short time in Zadar. Your guide will take you for a walk around the medieval fortifications. Continue to Split. Your hotel is just a short walk to Split’s historic centre.
Day 7: Split (B, D)
Enjoy a walking tour of the historic district of Split, to include the historic Diocletian Palace Complex, dating back to the 2nd Century BC. Free time after the tour to get something to eat and in the afternoon, your guide will take you to the Mestrovic Gallery, dedicated to the memory of the most celebrated Croatian artist of the 20th century, sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. This afternoon travel to the island of Trogir for a tour.
Day 8: Split and Islands (B, L)
You will be transferred to the port in Split for the morning ferry to the island of Brac. Upon disembarking in the port of Supetar, begin your tour of Brac. You will visit the village of Skrip and its local museum, which gives travellers a wonderful insight into the colourful history of the island. This afternoon continue to Bol, on the far side of the island, with the well-known Golden Cape Beach, which changes its shape as the wind blows. Transfer back to the port for departure back to Split and enjoy your last evening in Split at leisure.
Day 9: Split – Dubrovnik (B, L)
Drive to Dubrovnik, and along the way you will have the opportunity to cross over into Bosnia for a visit to Mostar. Enjoy a lunch in one of the traditional restaurants before departing. You will then continue to Dubrovnik, but not without stopping in Ston for a tasting of their famous oysters. Evening arrival in Dubrovnik with some time at leisure.
Day 10: Dubrovnik (B)
Your guide will meet you for a tour of Dubrovnik, protected as a World Cultural Heritage monument under UNESCO. Dubrovnik is full of charming cafés, boutiques and local curiosities, nestled in an intricate network of cobble-stoned streets. Free time to explore the city this afternoon.
Day 11: Departure (B)
Transfer to the airport.
