Walk and Relax in the Himalyan Foothills, India

A stunning combination of walking and relaxation in remote, untouched sub Himalayan landscapes combined with a flying visit to the Taj Mahal and a professionally-crafted tour of Old and New Delhi.

Suggested Itinerary:

DAY 1:Arrive Delhi
Begin your travel to India in Delhi. Upon arrival you will be taken to your hotel.

Overnight: The Imperial

DAY 2: Delhi tour then overnight train to Almora (B)
This morning you will be taken on a tour of Old Delhi. Later, you will drive through New Delhi.
After late check out (1900 hours) you will be taken to your train to Kathgodam arriving at 0545 hours the next morning.

Overnight: Air-conditioned Sleeper Class Train

DAY 3: Kathgodam – Deora (B, L, D)
On arrival you will be driven to to Deora (approx 3 hours). From the road head you will walk to the village house (1 hour walk). You begin by walking down through various villages, following streams through the valleys and around the hills of pine forests. The walk on this India tour continues through this valleys to the village of Deora.

Overnight: Deora Village

DAY 4: Deora – Alai (BLD)
Today’s walk is more of a flat walk. You will pass the traditional flour mills of the area. On arrival in Alai, you can watch dinner being prepared.

DAY 5: Alai – Jwalabanj (B, L, D)
The first part of the walk takes you through a canyon, forests, streams and fields. The final section takes you to the highest point of the walks. A traditional Kumaon dance will be performed this evening.

DAY 6:Jwalabanj - Leti (BLD)
This morning, with a packed lunch, you will be driven to Leti, where the 4 private cottages have private sit outs and glorious views. On arrival in Leti, you walk 1 hour up to the retreat. Set in a mountain wilderness at 2,440 m, 360° Leti is a place where the peace and astonishingly beautiful landscapes work their magic.

With four private guest pavilions and a main lounge-dining area, 360° Leti provides an exclusive mountain experience. Indoors, there’s gourmet cooking and fine wine, as well as beds adorned with pashmina blankets and fluffy duvets. Outdoors there are mountain walks (with private guides), picnics, fabulous views, or just chilling out– and, if you wish, yoga and meditation sessions by prior arrangement on your India tour.

Overnight: 360º Leti

DAY 7:360º Leti (B, L, D)
At the campsite, you can take gentle walks into the countryside, picnic hampers and guides are provided or just enjoy the surroundings. This afternoon you will have Yoga teacher to help you get in tune with nature on this tour to India.

DAY 8: 360º Leti (B, L, D)
As for day 7.

DAY 9: 360º Leti – Pithoragarh – Agra (B)
Today you will be driven to Pithoragarh for your private charter flight to Agra. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Later you will visit the Taj Mahal for an evening visit (Closed on Fridays).

Overnight: Amarvilas

DAY 10: Agra - Delhi (B)
You will be taken for a visit to the Red Fort where you will see the art of the white marble that has made the area so famous. Later you will be driven to the Delhi.

Overnight: The Imperial

DAY 11: Delhi (B)
A half-day tour of New Delhi. For rest of the day you will have the vehicle at your disposal.

Overnight: The Imperial – Heritage room

DAY 12: Delhi-Onward destination (B)
At the conclusion of the Delhi tour, you will be taken to the airport for your departure (check-out time 1200 hrs).
