Voluntouring: Giving back on holiday
Voluntouring: Giving back on holiday
Sometimes, when you’re helping to change the world, you often find you’ve been changed yourself in the process. Voluntouring is a unique way to blend an exciting holiday with the chance to make a difference to others.
If you’ve thought about visiting the Island of the Gods, Travel to Teach is a non-profit organisation that works in partnership with a local foundation, dedicated to improving children’s education and the general educational system in Bali.
When you’ve given back to the community, take some well-deserved time out for yourself and relax in luxury surroundings before heading home.
The Bulgari Resort sits 150 metres over the Indian Ocean and offers the perfect reward and respite. Watch the dolphins play in this stunning, protected stretch of sea, visible only to lucky guests from the ocean view villas and beach.
If you want to walk and work on the wilder side, get involved with animal rescue attempts on the banks of the Rio Madre de Dios tributary in the Peruvian rainforest.
The Taricaya Ecological Reserve runs a number of environmental projects which are always in need of extra hands. If you’re looking for some time with animals,
such as mistreated and abandoned exotic pets, one of these projects is Peru’s first animal reintroduction programme. Work with monkeys and turtles via Projects Abroad and start giving back before continuing your holiday, exploring the wilds of Peru.
The Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa is the only hotel in Urubamba with a private train station to Machu Picchu. A luxury-seeker’s paradise, it offers the height of relaxation at the end of your voluntouring experience in Peru and offers unique, refined dining, a therapeutic spa and a fitness center, all set around a sparkling emerald lagoon and riverside gardens.
There are hundreds of different opportunities to give back while you’re travelling, but for a more focused approach, we can help you arrange an experience before you go. More often than not, no experience is required to take part. All you need is enthusiasm, a real desire to leave traditional travel behind and immerse yourself completely in a different culture, and of course, your suitcase.
