With more than 640 kilometres in length, Cornwall boasts a long stretch of coastline that is filled with natural treasures. A botanically focused short tour of the most stunning and attractive gardens of Cornwall combined with a gourmet lunch experience and a visit to Port Isaac, the village made famous by the Doc Martin series.Visit the unique Eden Project, Trebah Gardens and Trevarno Estate and Gardens and have lunch at one of Rick Stein’s Padstow restaurants.
Detailed itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Portsmouth
On arrival in Portsmouth, you set off through the picturesque southern English counties of Hampshire, Dorset and Devon on the way to Cornwall. In the afternoon, visit the unique and unforgettable biomes at the Eden Project, a top garden and eco attraction that’s home to the world’s largest greenhouse.
Day 2: Trebah Garden, Trevarno Estate and Gardens (B)
Visit the sub-tropical paradise of Trebah Garden, set against an amazing coastal backdrop. Records of Trebah date back to the Doomsday survey of 1085. In the afternoon, continue to historic Trevarno Estate and Gardens, home to Britain’s first National Museum of Gardening.
Day 3: Lost Gardens of Heligan, Padstow, Port Isaac (B,L)
Seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, Heligan is one of England’s most mysterious estates. Today, it’s home to the gloriously restored Lost Gardens of Heligan. Explore these incredible gardens this morning then continue to Padstow, home to the famous English cook, restaurateur and television personality Rick Stein. Enjoy lunch in one of Rick’s restaurants then depart for ‘Doc Martin’ country - visiting the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac, where the television series was filmed.
Day 4: Hestercombe Garden (B)
Visit one of Gertrude Jekyll and Sir Edwin Lutyens masterpiece gardens, Hestercombe, that has recently been restored to great acclaim by the Somerset Council. Enjoy the structure of the formal parterre and wander through the wild natural garden before returning to London, where your tour concludes.
