From rolling mountains to emerald rice paddies to sparkling seas, there are lots of great locations in which to hire a villa in Bali, so all you need to do before calling our Concierge Traveller team is decide what you want from your holiday.
Want shopping and sunset cocktails?
If you’re looking to get some swimming and tanning-on-the-sand time in, then Seminyak is the place for you. As a mixed tourist and residential area on the west coast of Bali, Seminyak is just north of Kuta and Legian and not too far from Denpasar airport by taxi. It’s a cosmopolitan option and perfect if you and your friends like to head out for a cappuccino in the morning or a fancy dinner at night. In Seminyak you’ll find a selection of great hotels, beautiful staffed villas, a retail strip to explore on foot and restaurants to rival your favourites at home. Don’t miss a sunset cocktail at the infamous Potato Head Beach Club.
Want spirituality in the rice paddies?
Ubud is the option for you if you’re looking for a little zen. Taking its name from the word ‘medicine’ and the abundance of healing plants in the surrounding jungle, Ubud is the centre of spirituality in Bali. Here you’ll find all manner of yoga, Pilates and fitness opportunities, as well as sound healing, raw food courses, psychic readings and the chance for long walks or bike rides in the rice paddies. Curl up with a good book in your beautiful villa, or get into the organic food at a number of healthy-eating restaurants and cafes. Watch out for monkeys in the forest.
Want cliff-top views and surfing?
If ogling at surfers or just catching rays on the beach that was featured in Eat, Pray, Love (Padang Padang Beach) is your thing, Uluwatu won’t disappoint. More villas are popping up here all the time and for some fun cruising to the surrounding locations, like Kuta, Seminyak and Denpasar, you can hire a motorbike anywhere for around $5 per day. Uluwatu boasts dramatic cliff-top views and you’re not too far from the impressive ancient site of Pura Luhur. Don’t miss a traditional Kecak dance in a stunning Uluwatu temple… puppetry and demon masks have never been so bewitching.
Want peace and tranquility off the tourist trail?
Amed, on the east coast of Bali, has found recent popularity with scuba divers, thanks to two different shipwrecks off the coast. Amed is a much more peaceful place to stay for scuba diving in Bali than the Gili Islands, Kuta or the nearby Candidasa. The beaches are vast and sweeping and the dramatic black sand looks even more beautiful against those clear blue seas. Stay on the hill for panoramic views of the town below, as well as the mountains in the background, and don’t miss a traditional fish dinner and sunset drinks in one of the local beachfront restaurants.
