Suggested itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive London
Arrive in London and you will be met by a chauffeur guide and transferred to your accommodation, a two-bedroom suite. Afternoon at leisure depending on arrival time into London Heathrow
Day 2: London (B)
A day to explore London with or without a guide at your side. Take an open top bus ride to explore the main sites or perhaps take to the River Thames for a tour or simple boat ride. Visit Covent Garden for lunch and explore the old market shops. This afternoon or early evening you could take a ride on the London eye for great panoramic views of the city
Day 3: Harry Potter’s London (B, D)
With your driver & separate guide enjoy a days sightseeing in London. You can explore some of the Harry Potter sites in London such as Westminster Tube Station, Leaddnhall Market, Borough Market and Blackfriar’s Bridge. Also visit the traditional London sights that include Westminster Abbey – location of the Royal Wedding to be held on the 29th April this year
Day 4: Gloucester excursion (B)
You driver guide will take you to the city of Gloucester for some sightseeing (c.2.5hr drive). Gloucester’s historic cathedral cloisters were transformed into the corridors of Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Depart Gloucester in the afternoon and drive onto Oxford (c.1hr drive). On arrival in Oxford you take a private boat ride on the river with afternoon tea.
Day 5: Oxford
You will be taken on a tour of Oxford with visits to Christ Church College and the Pitt Rivers Museum at the University of Oxford where they display ‘shrunken heads’ as featured in Harry Potter! The Great Hall at Christ Church College is used as a double for Hogwarts School. Depart Oxford in the afternoon and return to your hotel in the centre of London (c.1.5 hr drive)
Day 6: London to Edinburgh (B)
Transfer to London Kings Cross to catch the line train to Edinburgh (boarding assistance available if required) and time for some more Harry Potter sightseeing! King's Cross station provided the film's magical Platform 9 ¾ and has been featured in most of the Harry Potter films. You will be met on arrival at Edinburgh Waverly Station and transferrer to your choice of a 4 or 5 star hotel.
Day 7: Edinburgh (B)
A day to explore Edinburgh with or without a guide. Walk around the Edinburgh Old Town and perhaps take an open top bus tour of the city. Visit Mary King’s Close and explore the hidden underground streets from the 17th Century. Enjoy some shopping on George Street in the afternoon
Day 8: Edinburgh (B)
With you driver and guide visit Edinburgh Castle & The Royal Yacht Britannia – your guide will be totally flexible across the day and will offer many options from which you can choose your favourites
Day 9: Edinburgh to London (B)
Today you could explore more of Edinburgh or perhaps take a train ride to the seaside town of North Berwick and take a boat ride out around Bass Rock from the harbour. Other options include a visit to the ruined Tantallan Castle or perhaps a ride in a fast RIB boat along the Firth of Forth. Transfer to Edinburgh Airport for an early evening flight to London Heathrow.
