In this Germany tour you experience an exploration of Germany's rich, dramatic history and cultural heritage. Visit lively cosmopolitan cities, historic old towns, as well as breathtaking natural scenery. Driving days are not long and there are two-night stays in both Munich & Berlin.

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Frankfurt
On arrival at Frankfurt Airport, your airport shuttle service leaves for the tour hotel at 09:30 & 12:00. This evening, a welcome drink is offered.
Overnight in Frankfurt
Hotel: Hilton Mainz City

Day 2: Frankfurt - Heidelberg – Rothenburg (B, D)
Begin the tour with an orientation tour of Frankfurt. Continue to Heidelberg, the city of the 'Student Prince', Sightseeing includes the view over the old quarter of the city from the heights of the famous castle fortress. Continue to Rothenburg-ob-der Tauber, the most well-preserved town on the Romantic Road. Enjoy a delicious local cuisine dinner.

Day 3: Rothenburg – Munich (B, D) (2 nights)
Journey through peaceful countryside and villages of flower-decked farmhouses as you drive along the Romantic Road south to Munich. Tonight, you can join the locals for a lively evening at one of Munich's world-famous Bier Kellers.

Day 4: Bavarian Alps (B, D)
Travel through the beautiful scenery of the German Alps, and visit Oberammergau, home since 1634 to the Passion Play. Afterwards, continue along part of the German Alpine Road to the Wieskirche, a masterpiece of Bavarian rococo, before arriving at the fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein.  Return to your Munich hotel later this afternoon.

Day 5: Munich - Nuremberg – Dresden (B)
Drive north across the Danube to Nuremberg, still entirely enclosed by its fortifications and home of Albrecht Dürer.  Although the town was heavily bombed in World War II, it still remains a treasure trove of early German history and medieval architecture. There is time to shop for delicious Lebkuchen (gingerbread) before heading for the Dresden for your overnight stay.

Day 6: Dresden – Berlin (B)
Join a local guide to see the splendours of the city.  See the enormous cathedral, Semper Opera  House and baroque Zwinger Palace, before departing for Berlin.

Day 7: Berlin (B)
A guided sightseeing tour includes a stop on Museum Island before passing the Brandenburg Gate, symbol of the reunification.  See Norman Forster's glass-dome atop the reconstructed Reichstag building and drive through the Tiergarten.  Spend the afternoon at leisure or take an optional excursion to Potsdam, site of the post war meetings which resulted in the division of the city. 
Overnight in Berlin.

Day 8: Depart Berlin (B)
Free departure transfers arrive at Berlin's Tegel Airport at 08:00 & 10:00.
